Text Block

Please note: In preparation for the upcoming design refresh, we are preventing content editors from creating new Text Block micro-content and will eventually remove them altogether.  As an alternate solution, please consider using a Promo. Promos function the same as Text Blocks, but allow you to attach a photo and/or URL. Our team will inform users when Text Blocks will be fully removed from GovHub.

How to Create a Text Block

In a WYSIWYG

Text blocks can be created in the WYSIWYG of some content types.  You can create the text blocks from the page you are editing.  Once it's created, you will be able to reuse that same content on other pages, too, if needed.

  1. Log into your agency website.
  2. While editing the page in which you'd like to place a block of text, select the embed micro-content button from the WYSIWYG Toolbar.
  3. Select Text Block.
  4. The Create Text Block Screen will display; if you would rather select an existing text block, use the Text Block Library tab (see screenshot).
  5. Add Title (required).
  6. Check the Hide Title box for the title to not display on the page.
  7. Enter content in the Text field. You are able to style and add links to this content.
  8. Select an Icon from the drop down list (optional).
  9. When you are finished, click the blue Save button.
  10. After saving, you will be back in the context of your original page's WYSIWYG. The system will ask you how you would like to embed your new Text Block relative to other content on your page.
    1. After selecting an option, click Embed.  You will now see the embedded text block placeholder in your WYSIWYG editor.
  11. Finish editing your page's content and Save and Publish as normal.
  12. Review your Text Block in the context of your page.

In a Landing Page

  1. Log into your agency website.
  2. On a landing page where you would like to add a Text Block, click on Layout
  3. Click on Add Block in the section and column where the Text Block should be placed.
  4. The right rail menu slides open. Select Text Block.
  5. Continue from steps #4 - #9 above.
  6. After saving, the block will be placed on the landing page.
